The Augustine Moore House where on October 18, 1781, officers met to negotiate the surrender terms of General Cornwallis' army to General George Washington. There were 14 "Articles of Capitulation" which detailed out how the British would surrender. Two of the articles denied the British the "full honors of war" and stated that they could not fly their regimental flags during the surrender ceremony and that their military band could only play British music instead of saluting the victor with American and French songs.
