After touring Jewel Cave, we were making our way up a set of stairs to the parking area when we came across this 4 foot Bull Snake blocking the path. We were about ready to turn around and find another route when he slowly started slithering his way back into the brush. A ranger later told us that although they're not poisonous, they do bite and it hurts like heck!  Glad we gave him a wide berth.
