The circles in the lower portion of this picture is a stalagmite that was cut in half, not by vandals, but by the cave owners in order to make a plaque for the hotel lobby above. It took workers a full 9 days to cut all the was through what nature took ~10,000 years to create. However, it is interesting to see the "growth rings" internal to it.
